Who would ever think creating a blog could be such a draining task?

Upon discovering the life of my computer battery was nearing an end, I figured I could quickly establish my blog and return to type out a masterpiece once resuscitation had taken place. I ventured to blogspot.com, and froze up. What on earth were my username and password? I tried a few old email addresses and finally sent a request for my password once it let me through. By the time I logged into my account, I was in a full-on sprint against the clock. That was the moment I realized I would have to surrender to my power cord. The obstacle? A domain name. How could I accurately represent myself in a title? I could name my blog in a jiffy, Edelsonews, because if and when I became more creative I knew I could change it. But a domain name, to stick in my BlogSpot URL, could never be undone. “BlogSchmog” had a nice ring to it, but sounded too depressing. I attempted combinations of Brooke and Blog, but “Broog” or “Blooke” didn’t make much sense or sound appealing in the slightest. Then my computer died. When it breathed back to life a few hours later, I still didn’t have a name. Then it hit me… “Blog-gone-it,” a title both reflecting my difficulties finding a title and reminding me all I need to do is just blog-on-it.

Needless to say, I have never blogged before. I find it strange speaking to an audience consisting of people I may never know, but I suppose that’s the nature of my generation. With social networking and Internet as a primary source of information, no one ever really knows who is looking at what these days.

  1. I was surprised reading the end of your post and seeing that you've never blogged before. You have a blogger writing style. I don't know if that makes sense, but the way your write was really conversational and fun, so I enjoyed your post a lot! I love the url you chose. I am not nearly that creative. :)

  2. Thanks, Julia! I find it kind of fun to write without having to worry about sounding formal and authentic at the same time, so blogging is a refreshing way to put my thoughts out there.
